Monster
Gustavo, Age 10, Tennis Monster

The Monster ate the guy playing tennis. The handprint on the page was going to belong to a figure, but the paint dripped, so a monster was invented. This monster has swallowed the tennis player whose hand only is visible. By the age of ten transparency (as in Charles’s #3 drawing) is passed up in favor of more realistic solid forms. Proportion on both the monster and the three armed frog are carefully scaled in this off centered, not symmetrical composition.
