Monster
Jason, Age 7, Sea Monster

Jason has painted another large monster, (one year after his Chimera,) a Sea Monster. The composition on this second monster is frontal. He faces forward, yet he is not totally symmetrical. His blue tongue hangs on his right side, his large eyes seem crossed, and his head, showing motion, leans to the left. Jason has been careful not to sacrifice his implied size. He has scaled the monster so that he disappears into the waves and off the page. Showing the head and expression of the face were more important than fitting the legs into the composition.
